Flaming Creature
Flaming Creature
Designed in collaboration with poet M. Elizabeth Scott, this eau de parfum is a narcotic, hazy ode to Flaming Creatures (1963) by American director Jack Smith (1932-1989). The entrancingly disjointed film inspires this fragrance’s smoldering freshness.
Top: pink peppercorn, juniper, orange ring pop
Mid: night-blooming jasmine, wormwood
Base: sandalwood, cedarwood, smoke, patchouli, rum
50 mL / 3.4 oz –– $150
All bottles have gold caps as of December 2023.

There is a (unsophisticated, certainly) validity there – also theatrical drama (the best kind) – also interesting symbolism, delirious hokey, glamour – unattainable (because once possessed) and juvenile at its most passionate.
What is it we want from film?
A vital experience
an imagination
an emotional release
all these & what we want from life
Contact with something
we are not, know not,
think not, feel not, understand not,
therefore: An expansion.
